The Sovereign Bank Music Series at Berklee continues with Eguie Castrillo and Friends: Latin Meets Jazz, Thursday, November 9, 8:15 p.m., at the Berklee Performance Center, 136 Massachusetts Ave., Boston. Acclaimed percussionist and Berklee associate professor Eguie Castrillo—who has performed with Tito Puente, Jennifer Lopez, Arturo Sandoval, Paquito D'Rivera, and others—presents a night of high-energy Latin jazz. His 18-piece orchestra, featuring Berklee faculty, students, and special guest vocalist Didi Stewart, will showcase many of the classic tunes that started the Latin jazz movement.

General admission tickets are $15; seniors $11.25. Tickets are available at the Berklee box office or through Ticketmaster at 617-931-2000 or www.ticketmaster.com. For more information, please call 617-747-2261 or visit www.berkleebpc.com.

Castrillo will bring to life old Latin jazz standards such as "Caravan," "Smile," and "Night In Tunisia,” while staying true to their original arrangements. Special guests include Berklee assistant professor and vocalist Didi Stewart, and rising drum prodigy Pablo Peña, the recipient of the prestigious Michel Camilo Scholarship at Berklee. Castrillo's orchestra includes Berklee faculty Greg Hopkins, Robynn Amy, John Pierce, Tim Mayer, Daniel Smith and Joe Santerre; students John Replogle and Marcos Lopez; alumni Luis Rosa '99, Chris Gagne '05 and Nir Naaman '05; as well as acclaimed outside musicians Bobby Gallegos, Rick Hammett and Uziel Colon.

The Sovereign Bank Music Series at Berklee is an exciting eight-concert series, featuring jazz, Latin, rock, r&b, folk and other music styles. Berklee is pleased to welcome Borders as the supporting sponsor of the series. Upcoming concerts will include Marcus Miller, Sweet Honey in the Rock, a Stevie Wonder tribute, and more.
