Berklee Appoints James J. Pallotta, Vice Chairman of the Tudor Group and Part-Owner of the Boston Celtics, to the Board of Trustees

June 9, 2006

Allan T. McLean, chair of Berklee's board of trustees, has announced the appointment of James J. Pallotta to the college board. Pallotta is Vice Chairman/head of U.S. Equity Securities of the Tudor Group affiliated companies, and part-owner of the Boston Celtics.

Says Berklee president Roger Brown: "Jim Pallotta told me that basketball and music are his two passions. As a co-owner of the Boston Celtics and leader of a high level weekly pick-up game, he has that interest well-covered. Now, as a Berklee Trustee, Jim will be able to expand his connections to the world of music. Jim has become known as one of Boston's most visionary philanthropists – someone who is helping Boston dial up its ambition and capacity for growth. We are delighted that he will be bringing those skills to Berklee's Board of Trustees."

Prior to joining the Tudor Group, Pallotta was Senior Vice President and Director of Research at Essex Investment Management Company in Boston, actively directing the management of client funds of up to $550 million. Pallotta currently serves on the Board of Trustees for the Boston Children's Hospital Trust; the Board and Executive Committee for Big Brother Association; the Executive Board of the Boston Celtics; and the Board of Directors for Fessenden School for Boys; the Steppingstone Foundation; Squashbusters; New Profit; Year Up; Leary Firefighters Foundation; and the Buoniconti Fund.

Jim has a BBA in Finance from the University of Massachusetts and an MBA from Northeastern University.
