Berklee to Award $5,000 in Scholarships at WBCN-FM/Berklee College of Music Battle of the High School Bands, April 15, at Harper's Ferry

BOSTON, MA, March 30, 2006 — For the fourth straight year, Berklee will award more than $5,000 in scholarships toward their Summer Programs at the WBCN-FM/Berklee College of Music Battle of the High School Bands. The last two days of competition are April 1 and the finals, April 15, both at Harper's Ferry, in Allston, MA. Berklee scholarships will be awarded to outstanding individual musicians from the final six bands.

"Over the past eleven years, the Battle has made an important difference in the lives of thousands of young musicians, several of whom have gone on to attend Berklee and make their mark as performers and music industry professionals," says Dana Acker, Associate Director of Enrollment.

Berklee is also represented by several of this year's judges, including students Ben Case and Claire Wadsworth; and alumni Dan Millen, Neil Young Popkin, and Jeff Perry, who is also a faculty member.

The grand prize winner will receive 16 hours of recording studio time, a 4 hour mastering session, as well as access to a producer and engineer at After Midnight Productions Studios, in Medway, MA.
