Shekinah 13 Artists

The list of women who have left Berklee and succeeded as performing musicians is endless. The most recognizable names on that list include Aimee Mann, Melissa Etheridge, Diana Krall, Paula Cole, Rachelle Ferrell, Gillian Welch, Susan Tedeschi, Patty Larkin, Tracy Bonham, and Juliana Hatfield. Now Berklee students and Epic Records are collaborating to give a boost to the next generation of Berklee women artists by releasing a CD highlighting 13 new performers.

The thirteen-track, all-female compilation "Shekinah 13 Artists" is the first commercial recording to be jointly released by a major record company and a student-run record label (Berklee's Heavy Rotation Records). Artists appearing on 'Shekinah' include Clare Muldaur, Rhea, Polina, Mancain, Cami, Anne Chandler, Kristin Cifelli, Adrianne, Valerie Brinker, Kyler, Antje Zumbansen, One Elle, and Amanda Williams. Epic/Sony will distribute the CD, which is scheduled for a Feb. 5 release.

At a CD release concert in the Berklee Performance Center on February 6, artists featured on the disc played their original songs in an evening show that ranged from folk to rock and metal to r&b. Please return to this page for news and photographs from the concert.
