Music critics have described Grayson Hugh's music as "soulful, gospel-inflected" and "sublime." Billboard Magazine described it as "Passionate. Poetic. Soul-stirring. Inspired . . . (music that) will open your mind."
Acclaimed trumpeter Tiger Okoshi recently toured Asia in March -- Hong Kong, Macau and Japan, giving master classes and performing.
The Five-Week Summer Performance Program runs at Berklee from July 8 through August 10, and allows students to become immersed in all aspects of performance.
Students play in ensembles, develop improvisational and reading skills, improve their own technique in weekly private lessons, enjoy lecture/demonstrations by well-known faculty and visiting artists, and are exposed to the latest innovations in music technology.
Most students who attend this program are of high school and college age, though the minimum age for participants is 15 years old. The Summer Performance Program emphasizes the mastery of playing or singing skills in the student's chosen style of contemporary music: funk/fusion, pop/rock, blues, or jazz.
This high-energy concert welcomes these students to this five-week educational experience. The evening promises to be inspirational, funky, and soulful for students and general public audiences alike!
