Guitar Week 2001

Berklee's annual six-string festival highlights the artistry of faculty, students, and visiting artists like Leni Stern and Nelson Faria.

Germany-born Leni Stern gave up a successful acting career to study guitar at Berklee in the late 1970s. Twenty years later, after releasing ten jazz records as a leader, Stern returns to Berklee for a Major Residency, including a guitar clinic she will give on Thursday, March 1 at 4 p.m. in the David Friend Recital Hall. Other highlights of the three-day festival include a Brazilian music clinic and concert, to be presented by jazz guitarist Nelson Faria and a series of student and faculty concerts. "Monster" Mike Welch, a Berklee student who has released three albums on Tone-Cool records and is viewed already as a top-notch bluesman, will will lead his own group in a concert at the Berklee Performance Center on Friday, March 2 at 8:15 p.m.

All events are free, except for concerts held in the Berklee Performance Center, which are normally priced at $4 per ticket. Please read over the full list of Guitar Week 2001 events.
