Mili Bermejo
Berklee faculty members Mili Bermejo-Greenspan and Victor Mendoza will perform with their bands in a range of styles, including jazz, Latin jazz, and several traditional Latin song forms, in a dual concert in the Berklee Performance Center, at 8:15 p.m. on Thursday, November 9. The show is part of Berklee's Latin Culture Week, a series of concerts and clinics showcasing the depth and diversity of Latin American musical expression.

Vocalist-composer Mili Bermejo, a Professor of Voice, has developed a style that incorporates her Mexican and Argentine roots, as well as improvisational jazz. She co-leads a sextet with her husband and double bassist Dan Greenspan. The sextet features Bermejo's fellow countryman Claudio Ragazzi, a successful film composer whose haunting compositions and fiery guitar-playing define the group's musical geography and catalyze its performances. The sextet is completed by pianist Tim Ray, accordionist Evan Harlan and drummer Steve Langone. The sextet's repertoire includes zambas, chacareras and tangos, both traditional several by a generation of contemporary Argentinean writers. The group also performs original compositions by Ragazzi with lyrics by Bermejo.

Professor of Percussion and vibraphonist Victor Mendoza leads his Latin Jazz Sextet performing original music from his latest CD Black Bean Blues. This group includes faculty members saxophonist Jim Odgren, bassist Fernando Huergo, percussionist Egui Castrillo, pianist Alon Yavanai, and drummer Steve Langone.

The Berklee Performance Center is located at 136 Massachusetts Avenue, in Boston. The concert is open to the public for a ticket price of $4. For more information, please call (617) 747-2261.
