Yoga, Meditation and Kirtan
Life as a musician is very busy. Participation in yoga classes and meditation sessions can help a student to release stress, gain energy, and enjoy life more fully. Free yoga and meditation classes are offered each week. The popularity of these classes is due to the benefits that students are receiving from them. We also offer Kirtan once a month.
Benefits of regularly practicing yoga may include:
- releasing stress and tension;
- finding peace and tranquility;
- increasing strength and flexibility;
- gaining mental endurance and physical stamina; and
- seeing with more clarity and focus.
These benefits are often experienced in the yoga class as well as throughout one's day.
LiveWell / ASPIRE offers a variety of styles of yoga. Our yoga classes serve students of all levels and abilities.

Meditation sessions are offered weekly on Tuesdays from 1:00 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. and on Sundays at noon. This is a time to meditate and to learn.
Every Sunday from noon-12:45 p.m. (except March 16 and 23), Sagit Zilberman leads a meditation session in the Loft. Beginners are welcomed to join in. Zilberman is a Berklee graduate who teaches students to quiet the mind and notice the body and breath in order to experience a deeper sense of love, compassion, purpose in life, joy from giving, intuition, and ability to stay centered and focused in the midst of hardships. The goal of the class is to expose students to different techniques, practice together, and share experiences with meditation.

Kirtan is the singing of sacred mantras, accompanied by classical Indian instruments. It is a call-and-response style of singing which involves the audience in the performance and it is an ancient and well known art to calm the mind and open the heart. Berklee Kirtan events feature faculty members Richard Davis on vocals and harmonium and Jerry Leake on tabla.
