Description:Under the direction of the Director for Faculty Development and Academic Affairs, the Assistant Director for Faculty Development Programming oversees and is accountable for the execution, revision, and implementation of faculty development programs including the Faculty Learning Communities, Teaching with Technology and Reboot Institutes, the Ambassador for Education programming, the Fellowship programs, Academic Affairs events, and the office Communication plan. Collaborates in the creation of the Opening Day, Black Music Programming, and Diversity Programming.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Faculty Learning Communities: Under the direction of the Director of Faculty Development, oversees the Faculty Learning Community Program by identifying annual learning community topics, designing training programs for facilitators, and determining meeting schedule and community models/structures in accordance with the College’s Strategic Plan. Manages the implementation of the program, including training facilitators, recruiting and tracking faculty membership, reviewing and providing resources, and managing the budget (approximately $60,000). Involves overseeing 12 faculty facilitators for 9 months per year: hiring, training, assessing work and programs.

• Teaching with Technology: Oversees programs related to Faculty Development in Technology, including co-chairing the Faculty Development Technology Committee and overseeing the Reboot Summer Technology workshops. Works with the Core Technology Workgroup of the CRI to design and implement technology training for 500 faculty. Works with CTMI, Chairs, faculty, Distributed Support and library staff to coordinate resources to support faculty technology use in teaching. Administers office responsibilities and deadlines, manages publicity and ensures recruitment of faculty.

• Ambassador for Artistry in Education
In support of the strategic direction, “create opportunities for students and faculty to interact with world-class musicians and entrepreneurs.” Ambassador for Artistry in Education Residencies: Under the direction of the Director of Faculty Development works collaboratively with the chairs and deans to schedule four (4) week-long residencies coordinating schedule and logistics, including interdisciplinary projects, clinics, master classes, and workshops, and other residencies in conjunction to. Serves as host to Ambassador through all visits. Currently filled by Patrice Rushen and Bobby McFerrin.

• Grants and Funding Management: Responsible for the administration of the Faculty Development Grant, Berklee Faculty Fellowship, Newbury Comics Faculty Fellowship, and Steelgrass Residency programs, $100 annually. Sets and communicates timeline and coordinates review process for each program. Communicates updated programming information to faculty and solicits applications. Produces acceptance/denial letters for each program. Participates in the annual budget review determining allocation, manages and oversees budget.

• Liberal Arts Symposium: Provides leadership as member of the Liberal Arts Symposium, helping to identify and invite the featured guest, set annual theme, and plan week of events for visiting scholar. Serves as lead for faculty development programs featuring the visiting scholar.

• Event Planning: Oversees all logistics for faculty development events and meetings, up to 50 annually; includes invitations and flyers, room reservations, food orders, and appropriate technology support.

• Budget: Manages the Event Expense General line item ≈$100K annually.

• Communications Plan: Oversees development of Faculty Development Marketing including Website design and maintenance, Faculty blogs, Graphic design, Podcasts, and Marketing materials.

• Opening Day: Serves on annual Opening Day Committee with specific responsibilities related to logistical set up and support for the event. Provides expertise related to event planning, including communications needs and schedule, and presidential messaging.

• Academic Affairs Community Events: Oversees the creation and administration of 6 annual events for the college community under the Provost. Includes Fall and Spring Social (up to 300 people) as well as multiple Division lunches (up to 100 people).

• College Programming: Under the direction of the Director for Faculty Development and Academic Affairs, collaborates in the creation of new programs and projects that addresses changing needs of the growing faculty body.

The Community Product Manager will also work to seek out, secure and negotiate partnership deals both inside and outside the music industry. The manager will be responsible for the smooth operation of the community including member liaison and utilizing community leaders to form networks and add value. The manager will closely monitor the feature set, track bugs and make recommendations for future feature development.

1. Work with the Chief Marketing Officer and marketing group to expand and grow the community with quality members.
2. Foster a community that has a high volume of meaningful interactions and serves as a powerful introduction to the Berklee brand.
