This popular concert highlights the music of Berklee women students and their bands from around the world.
This year there are 12 diverse acts, ranging from jazz and rock to Bulgarian folk. As always, the focus is on Berklee women students and their bands. Special guests include Renese King, Berklee City Music, and award-winning band Zili Misik.
Women Musicians Network (WMN) is a student club, founded in order to highlight Berklee women students in roles that are often associated with men. The annual concert features female band leaders, composers, drummers, saxophonists, lead guitar and bass players. Women also work behind the scenes—as organizers, recording engineers, etc.
The concert is presented by Lucy Holstedt (WMN cofounder and faculty advisor) and Christiane Karam. Christiane, a former Berklee alumna, has performed in the show as well as other illustrious student alumnae including Esperanza Spalding, Christine Fawson, Daniela Schachter, and members of Zili Misik.
