Vocalist Aryn Calhoun and her band play a set of all original music written by Calhoun. Their style can best be described as alternative pop with hints of jazz and country. Almost every song comes from Calhoun's soon to be released album. The band includes Jeffery Holden on drum set, Justin Schornstein on bass, John Taylor on guitar, and Maddy Zani on violin.
The bassist, vocalist, and composer Esperanza Spalding performs with her band. As Berklee President Roger H. Brown told Down Beat magazine, the faculty member and recent graduate "incorporates her voice with her instrument in a way in which neither is the accompanist." Learn more about this music series.
Vocalist Jessica Bichelmeyer is a sixth-semester student majoring in vocal performance and music education here at Berklee. Jessica was born in Kansas City and is a true country girl. She has a background in musical theater, dance, and acting. Come and see her perform—you won't want to miss it!
Presented by vocalist Susan Rose Smith, this classical song recital repertoire includes pieces by Bizet, Fauré, Debussy, and Ned Rorem, as well as a piano transcription of George Gershwin songs (done by Gershwin himself) performed as solos by pianist William Merrill. These songs will take us all to "Springtime Paradise" in the frigid temperatures of February.
Vocalist Whitney C. Jones presents her last Berklee show as a student. She will be performing, along with her band, a combination of gospel, funk, and neo-soul. There will be some original compositions that will have you smoothly grooving. Come check the show out. It will be worth it!
An exciting recital led by Scottish singer/songwriter and two-time semifinalist at the Montreux Jazz Festival Shure World Vocal Competition. The concert will feature her original material and jazz arrangements with accompaniment from fellow Scots Alan Benzie (piano), Leah Gough-Cooper (alto sax), and Patrick Kunka (drums), as well as Jeong Lim Yang (bass) from Korea and Nadav Remez (guitar) from Israel.
