Premier jazz trombonist Robin Eubanks will share his knowledge with Berklee students in this clinic. Eubanks, who was won Grammys for his work with Michael Brecker and Dave Holland, has collaborated with an amazing array of notable artists, including Art Blakey, Elvin Jones, Eddie Palmieri, Sun Ra, Barbara Streisand, the Rolling Stone, and the Talking Heads.
Eubanks is a professor of jazz trombone at the Oberlin College Conservatory. Arrangements of his works are a staple for ensembles at many colleges and universities throughout the U.S.
In town to drum for Joshua Redman at his Berklee Performance Center show, Gregory Hutchinson will conduct a drum clinic for Berklee students. For “Hutch,” the goal is to play the drums like Charlie Parker plays the horns.
One of the most respected musicians of our time, Hutchinson has worked with the likes of Wynton Marsalis, John Scofield, Diana Krall, Harry Connick Jr., Maria Schneider as well as many others. His time signatures and beat compositions have won him praise from the hip-hop community as well, leading him to work with Common and Questlove of the Roots, among others.
Victor Wooten, Steve Bailey, J.D. Blair, and Derico Watson perform in conjunction with the Victor Wooten/Berklee College of Music Summer Bass Program. The evening's repertoire will include a demonstration of bass extremes, Wooten's solo material, and jazz classics. Students participating in the program may take the stage to show off their skills alongside the bass masters.
