Originally from Pereira, Colombia, guitarist Juan Gaviria will present his final recital, infusing elements of jazz and R&B into the folkloric music of South America. Gaviria and his group will be interpreting some of the great American and Latin standards as well as presenting original compositions.
Guitarist Eduardo Mercuri and his group perform a set of his original music. Born in Curitiba, Brazil, Mercuri is also a mandolinist, composer, and arranger.
Influenced by his father, he had his first contact with music very early and began playing guitar at age 11. Mercuri has studied with Vittor Santos, Osiel Fonseca, Oliver Pellet, Daniel Santiago, Mick Goodrick, Bruce Bartlett, and Steve Rochinski, among others.
