The timeless appeal of the Spinners remains strong several decades after this soulful R&B powerhouse scored hits like “I’ll Be Around,” “Rubberband Man,” and “One of a Kind (Love Affair).” Over the years, the Spinners have acquired six Grammy nominations and have performed twice during the awards ceremony. They have also performed for presidents and received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Tavares, another long-running R&B group that delivered a string of hits in the ‘70s (“Heaven Must Be Missing an Angel,” “That’s the Sound That Lonely Makes,” and others), will open. Tavares scored its first hit with “Check It Out” in 1973 and soon began appearing regularly on the R&B and pop charts. Tavares continues to bring an incredible energy to its performances. Vocalist Tevin Brown presents first full concert as a farewell to Berklee. The concert will showcase some of his favorite artists from different eras, while showcasing tunes and artists that aren't regularly highlighted or performed. Performing old school disco and funk to newer R&B styles, Brown will be backed by some of Berklee's finest musicians.
