Marc Rossi presents an indian classical khyal vocal recital, with Pradeep Shukla, vocals; Marc Rossi, harmonium (Indian keyboard instrument); and Rajesh Pai, tabla.
Pradeep Shukla is an accomplished Hindustani vocalist who has performed in the U.S. and India. He received his initial training from Pandit V.V. Paranjape and later from the late Pandit Govind Prasad Jaipurwale and the late Pandit Madev Gudi. Shukla is director of the LearnQuest Academy of Music in Waltham, MA and professor of mathematics at Suffolk University in Boston, MA.
Shri Rajesh Pai started learning the tabla at the age of eight and had his formal training with Shri Hari Marate and Shri Vittaldas Bhat for more than 10 years. He has accompanied many artists in classical, light classical, and fusion concerts, including V.K. Raman, Dattatreya Velankar, Jawwad Noor, George Ruckert, and Pradeep Shukla.
Marc Rossi (Berklee faculty) studied sitar and Hindustani music with Peter Row, vocal accompaniment with Pradeep Shukla, and harmonium with Shri Kedar Naphade. He has also studied Carnatic music with Geetha Ramanathna Bennett and V.R. Venkataraman. As a pianist and composer he has performed fusion with a number of illustrious Indian musicians, including Lalgudi G.J.R. Krishnan, Geetha Ramanathan Bennett, Satish Vyas, Nandakishore Muley, Peter Row, V.R. Venkataraman, Aishu Venkataraman, and R. Prasanna. He has co-led workshops at Berklee with V.R. Venkataraman, titled The Math behind the Music, presented by the president's office. Rossi has accompanied Pradeep Shukla and Dattatreya Velenkar in Indian classical vocal recitals on harmonium and keyboard. He also serves on the LearnQuest board of directors and advisory board
