Guitarist Brendan Badger's senior recital will feature a performance of groove-based music in the styles of funk, fusion, and R&B. A band will join Badger in performing originals as well as tunes by Hiromi Uehara, Erykah Badu, Billy Strayhorn, and Joshua Redman.
Guitarist Alex Conroy and Chroma present original compositions featuring a modern, yet accessible, sound with its roots in groove. Chroma represents a movement among young Berklee musicians that emphasizes melody and emotion in music. They have performed for Jaleel Shaw via the NPR Checkout Live series and are featured on the Jazz Revelation Records 2013 release. Chroma's independent release, Pentameter, showcases their unique sound.
Groovalicious, directed by Gwen Leathers, showcases the talent and musicianship of the students in the Voice Department. These students are currently taking courses such as rhythm section grooves, rehearsal techniques, and advanced performance lab. The best students are chosen to audition with a chart/arrangement they have been working on in class. The chosen finalists are given a chance to perform and display both their vocal talents and leadership abilities.
