This concert will feature the Percussion Department's recipients of the prestigous 2015 spring scholarship awards, made possible through the generous support of Zildjian cymbals, Vic Firth sticks and mallets, Sabian cymbals, Berklee College of Music, and various private donors.

Percussionist Can Kemal presents compositions from both the traditional and modern Turkish repertoire performed in a contemporary group setting. Kemal will be accompanied by a diverse array of musicians from Egypt, Iran, Turkey, and the United States. As a group, these musicians will showcase sounds inspired by the Bosphorus, the body of water between Europe and Asia in the city of Istanbul.
Drummer Kostas Milonas and his band will perform funk covers, including tunes by Earth, Wind & Fire; Tower of Power; Stevie Wonder; Incognito; Jamiroquai; and John Blackwell. Milonas is in the process of making an instructional DVD, The Ultimate All-Around Drummer, to be released in the fall of 2014.
