The Esterhazy Quartet—violinists Susan Jensen and Eva Szekely, violist Leslie Perna, and cellist Darry Dolezal—will read and discuss several Berklee student compositions.
Throughout its distinguished career, the quartet has delighted audiences on three continents with both its discerning interpretations of standard repertoire and its commitment to performing modern music of the Americas. The group promotes the advancement of the string quartet art form through master classes and workshops with young performers, and collaborations with respected modern composers.
Exceptional performance of old European masters by one of the best Croatian musicians. Guest artists from Croatia, Srdjan Caldarovic on piano, and Ivan Novinc on violin will be presenting pieces by Liszt, Brahms, Ginastera, and prominant Croatian composers, including a piece by Berklee composition faculty member Ivan Lisak. The concert is presented by Lisak.
The Pierrot Lunaire Ensemble presents works by faculty members Rosey Lee and Richard Applin, and Berklee Presidential Scholar Neara Russell. Performers include faculty members and Robin Ginenthal, Richard Greenblatt, and August Watters.
A unique vocal band presenting the best of traditional Nordic music with a contemporary edge. Presenting songs rarely heard outside of Iceland, Norway, Denmark, Sweden, and Finland, this captivating vocal band's arrangements often use six- and seven-part harmonies. Led by Berklee faculty member Allen LeVines, Stämbandet’s captivating sounds and unique rhythms transcend all language barriers.
Award-winning Scottish cello virtuoso Peter Gregson will perform a program of works with live interactive electronics and the incredible, 10-speaker Eclipse TD 712z system, all managed (in real time) by Milton Mermikides, professor of music technology at the Royal Academy of Music in London in one of Boston's most beautiful acoustic settings, Trinity Church.
The program will include US premieres by six leading UK composers and feature a 40-cello arrangement of Thomas Tallis's Renaissance masterpiece Spem in Alium, reproduced with incredible clarity by the Eclipse TD system. Following the program Peter Gregson will lead a short master class in performing with electronics.
