Urban Sociology
Tim Biblarz is Chair of the Department of Sociology at the University of Southern California. Professor Biblarz studies the causes and consequences of social inequalities in the United States over time, with an emphasis on family and intergenerational issues. Current projects include an examination of how parents' gender matters for children's development (forthcoming in the Journal of Marriage and Family), and a study of the relationship between sexual orientation and patterns of social mobility. He has published in the American Sociological Review, American Journal of Sociology, Social Forces, and other journals, and is co-author of How Families Still Matter (Cambridge University Press).
