Music Therapy Program

Berklee's newest major, Music Therapy, has generated tremendous enthusiasm among the Berklee student body and in the music therapy community. Berklee's emphasis on musical improvisation and its leadership in the use of technology allows Berklee to make unique, significant contributions to this fast-growing field.

Its location in Boston-a world-renowned medical center-affords the Berklee Music Therapy program opportunities that will benefit its graduates and the field in general.

The Music Therapy department also runs a trip to Africa to bring music and healing to youths in Zambia and Tanzania.

Office of Experiential Learning

The mission of the Office of Experiential Learning Internship Program at Berklee is to assist students in gaining professional work experience. Internships allow a student to explore career options, provide on-the-job training, and encourage mentorship. Internships are supervised experiential learning programs designed to broaden the student's knowledge of music, to provide the student with a more comprehensive understanding of his or her career objectives, and to build the confidence and tools needed to market themselves in their career of choice.

The OEL and the internship coordinator are available to assist qualified students in obtaining and maintaining an internship. Acting as a channel of communication between the student and employer, the internship coordinator provides internship guidance, counseling, and search information, and develop and monitor student application and evaluation procedures. Through the OEL, students have access to over one thousand contacts, both inside the metro Boston area and beyond, including New York, Nashville, or Los Angeles. Opportunities include Universal, Sony, Epic, Zildjian, ASCAP, Jazz at Lincoln Center, MTV, Lucas Digital Ltd., Bose, BMG, Yamaha, DreamWorks, and Fox Studios, to name but a few.
