A Message from the President

Financial resources are the oxygen that feeds the organism. Without them, obligations in the present cannot be fully met, and future opportunities will be missed. With them, our aspirations have muscle. I am grateful to all of you who have invested in Berklee to ensure and fulfill our mission to educate, train, and develop the next generation of great performers, educators, and leaders in music.

I was drawn to Berklee because of my passion for music and admiration for the outstanding musicians who have attended the college and who teach here. I find myself in a state of awe when I witness the commitment, discipline, and motivation of our students. The Berklee community is one that embraces an entrepreneurial approach to education, keeping the student at the center. Berklee has a long tradition of innovating and staying ahead of the curve, not just following.

I recognize that change is itself a fundamental part of the Berklee tradition. I am excited about coming to Berklee at one of the most interesting and exciting times in the history of this great institution. In the short time I have been at Berklee, I have heard from many of you about your hopes for this outstanding college. I look forward to hearing from more of you as we develop our shared vision of what this community can become. We need to have the courage to nurture our aspirations. We need to dream out loud.

Thank you for your generous support and for your desire to see Berklee fully achieve its unique place and role as an incubator of tomorrow's music and musicians.

Sincerely,

Roger H. Brown
President
