Art of the Duo is a spontaneous collection of music rooted in the jazz tradition presented by pianist Douglas Johnson and vocalist Lisa Thorson. No charts, no lyric sheets, just our favorite songs played with a spirit of adventure.

When the unmistakable musical influences of Thelonious Monk, Danilo Perez, and Charlie Parker intersect with J.S. Bach, Scott Joplin, and the folkloric rhythms of Cuba, could one possibly conceptualize the celebration that occurs at that intersection? Boston-based jazz pianist Kevin Harris plays a distinctive combination of traditional and contemporary music that seeks to explore such a crossroads. [details]

Alumnus BT comes back to Berklee for this Valentine's Day concert featuring Chris Compton, Richard Boulanger, Kari Juusela, Michael Bierylo, and Chi Kim. BT is known as a sonik arkitect, platinum-selling artist, producer, celebrated film composer, virtuoso laptop performer, software developer, and visionary technologist. [details]

Joined by student players, they'll showcase a variety of contemporary styles including jazz, R&B, pop, rock, Latin, and singer-songwriter. The Berklee Chamber Players is a group of versatile Berklee composers and performers whose mission and passion is to present original music by Berklee faculty. Founded by String Department chair Melissa Howe, the BCP showcases the vital and innovative classical music scene at Berklee.

Individually, Hoagy Carmichael and Johnny Mercer composed some of the greatest tunes in the American songbook. Together, they wrote time-tested standards as "Skylark" and "In the Cool, Cool, Cool of the Evening." At Berklee's annual celebration of the American Songbook, student and faculty vocalists backed by a full orchestra interpret the individual and collaborative songs of these American masters. Jazz Composition Department's annual spring concert featuring the writings of department faculty

Many Piano Department faculty members will be performing in a variety of settings and styles.

Jeff Galindo Quartet with guest artist Luis Bonilla. The second half of the show begins at 9:15 p.m. and will feature original and arranged material from Neal Smith's latest album, showcasing an all-star lineup of some of the finest musicians in jazz.

The third annual Curtain Up concert will feature songs by the winners of this year's Curtain Up Musical Theater Songwriting Contest, arranged and orchestrated by students in Musical Theater Arranging and Orchestration class. An entertaining revue of new material written and performed by the Broadway talent of tomorrow. Directed by faculty members Michael Wartofsky and Jeri Sykes.

The Middle Eastern Music Festival is a celebrated annual event that joins gifted artists from the Middle East and the Balkans with students from all over the world to perform traditional and inspiring music from these homelands.

Grammy Award–winning faculty drummer/composer Mark Walker presents a powerful and intoxicating blend of jazz improvisation with the rhythms and percussion of South America, the Caribbean, and North America. His new group, the Rhythm of the Americas, is a virtual wall of rhythm, sound, and color, and features two percussionists, Hammond organ, piano, guitar, saxophone, bass, and drums. [details]

This annual concert is a celebration of family and friends, music, groove, and a special remembrance of our bass brother Wes Wehmiller as we introduce the 2012 scholarship award recipient of the Wes Wehmiller Scholarship. The scholarship recipient will be performing with their group and with Bass Department faculty member Danny Morris's group consisting of Berklee students and faculty.

Best Inventions is a concert of the student projects from the Tonal Canon and Inventions (Counterpoint 2) course, performed by faculty pianist Marti Epstein.

The Berklee Global Jazz Institute (BGJI) is a performance program designed to foster creativity and musicianship through various musical disciplines, with pianist and composer Danilo Pérez as its artistic director. The BGJI provides a comprehensive contemporary music environment where students are given opportunities to explore their creativity to the highest level possible, advance the power of music as a tool for the betterment of society, and connect musical creative thinking with the natural environment. Guitar faculty member Thaddeus Hogarth presents an evening of six guitarists leading their groups in a program of original and cover R&B/funk music.

Each semester, faculty and students of the Music Education Department perform to demonstrate the unique and exciting music-making that goes on in the department.

Pianist Mieun Noh presents her senior recital at Berklee, with Latin tunes and some originals and arrangements. Instrumentation is trio with vocals and some percussion, with some special guest faculty.

The Berklee Contemporary Symphony Orchestra will be premiere John Patitucci’s Fantasy on a River Theme for six-string electric bass and orchestra, with the composer as soloist. The program will also feature the BCSO Student Composition Competition score, 8 De Febrero by Vicente Ortiz Gimeno, as well as Berklee composition faculty Jonathan Holland’s Halcyon Sun. In honor of John Williams's 80th birthday, selections from Schindler’s List and Star Wars will round out the program. [details]

Alan Munde needs no introduction to longtime bluegrass fans. From his early creative work with Sam Bush in Poor Richard's Almanac to his traditional bluegrass apprenticeship with Jimmy Martin and the Sunny Mountain Boys, to his 21-year stint anchoring the landmark Country Gazette, Munde has blazed a trail as one of the most innovative and influential banjo players of all time. Along the way, Munde also recorded and contributed to numerous instrumental recordings, including the 2001 IBMA Instrumental Album of the Year, Knee Deep in Bluegrass. [details]
