The Berklee P-Funk Ensemble has been a popular ensemble since the 1990s. George Clinton made a surprise visit and directed the group for an MTV special a few years back. Now, one of the foremost innovators of funk music returns to Berklee for a four-day residency and a concert covering his artistic trajectory from Parliament in the 1960s to Funkadelic, and his amazing solo career.

Wonjun Jung, a.k.a Jun, is gonna be playing guitar with other great musicians. Be ready to dance!

The Y Chromotones are an all-male a cappella group at Berklee. At this concert, they will present a brief history of choral music, through a comedic series of theme and variations, sung by the group.

Shon Boublil, the grand prize winner of the Lee Ritenour Six String Theory, will be giving a 60-minute solo concert. His performance will include some of the greatest composers, including Miguel Llobet, Barrios, Bach, Albéniz, Regondi, Piazzolla, Tárrega, Legnani, and others. Boublil is a Yamaha performing artist and D’Addario Gold performing artist and has made a debut CD recording with Lee Ritenour, B. B. King, George Benson, Steve Lukather, John Scofield, Pat Martino, Mike Stern, Neal Schon, Slash, Vince Gill, Keb Mo, Taj Mahal, Joe Bonamassa, Jonny Lang, Andy McKee, Guthrie Govan, Joe Robinson, and Tomoyasu Hotei.

Cirkestra is a five-piece musical troupe from Boston that started as a circus pit band and stuck together. The group's leader is Peter Bufano, who first ran away with Ringling Bros. and Barnum and Bailey Circus at the age of 17. He is known for musical contributions to a number of other circuses around the world. The group's eastern European–influenced instrumentals are now heard in films and on TV everywhere. The Varsity Vocals International Championship of A Cappella is the only international tournament that showcases the art of student a cappella singing. Hosted by Berklee's own award-winning group, Pitch Slapped, young vocalists have the opportunity to showcase their talent to an international audience and develop relationships with each other, cultivating the art of a cappella singing and a lifelong love of music. Fred Armisen (Saturday Night Live) and Carrie Brownstein (Wild Flag, Sleater- Kinney) from IFC's hit original comedy Portlandia are embarking on a unique six-city tour bringing the romanticized and dreamy rendering of Portland, Oregon to life for fans across the country. Portlandia: The Tour will feature Armisen and Brownstein, the cocreators, writers, and stars of Portlandia, performing live music, presenting sneak-peek clips from the show's second season, and sharing personal anecdotes about the creation and inspiration of Portlandia and its variety of eccentric characters.

Company of Thieves couldn't wait to record its sophomore full-length album, Running from a Gamble. Even though Company of Thieves' famously feverish fanbase is exponentially larger than it was when the band released its first album, the only pressure felt during the making of Running from a Gamble was due to the explosive nature of the songs themselves. And the tremendous results are a testament to how far the Chicago-based band has come in such a short period of time. [details]

Individually, Hoagy Carmichael and Johnny Mercer composed some of the greatest tunes in the American songbook. Together, they wrote time-tested standards as "Skylark" and "In the Cool, Cool, Cool of the Evening." At Berklee's annual celebration of the American Songbook, student and faculty vocalists backed by a full orchestra interpret the individual and collaborative songs of these American masters. This is Carlos Llerena's first recital at Berklee. He will be performing some modern fusion with his quintet. They will play tunes by Joshua Redman and Chris Potter, as well as some originals.

The John Lee Quintet will be performing a variety of jazz standards with the musical styles and compositions of the 1940s–1960s. The John Lee Quintet is Nick Frenay on trumpet, Barclay Moffitt on tenor saxophone, Lucian Gray on guitar, Greg Chaplin on bass, and John Lee on drum set.

Guitarist Junewon Choi, this time with organ and drums, will play the music of the great guitarist Wes Montgomery, in a trio named after a tune by Wes Montgomery, "O.G.D." (a.k.a. Road Song). With Jake Sherman on organ and Oscar Suchanek on drums.
