Now, one of the foremost innovators of funk music returns to Berklee for a four-day residency and a concert covering his artistic trajectory from Parliament in the 1960s to Funkadelic, and his amazing solo career.

Grand Solo: Shon Boublil

Shon Boublil, the grand prize winner of the Lee Ritenour Six String Theory, will be giving a 60-minute solo concert. His performance will include some of the greatest composers, including Miguel Llobet, Barrios, Bach, Albéniz, Regondi, Piazzolla, Tárrega, Legnani, and others. Boublil is a Yamaha performing artist and D’Addario Gold performing artist and has made a debut CD recording with Lee Ritenour, B. B. King, George Benson, Steve Lukather, John Scofield, Pat Martino, Mike Stern, Neal Schon, Slash, Vince Gill, Keb Mo, Taj Mahal, Joe Bonamassa, Jonny Lang, Andy McKee, Guthrie Govan, Joe Robinson, and Tomoyasu Hotei.

Cirkestra / Klezwoods

Cirkestra is a five-piece musical troupe from Boston that started as a circus pit band and stuck together. The group's leader is Peter Bufano, who first ran away with Ringling Bros. and Barnum and Bailey Circus at the age of 17. He is known for musical contributions to a number of other circuses around the world. The group's eastern European–influenced instrumentals are now heard in films and on TV everywhere. On March 15, 2011, Cirkestra composed and recorded their fifth release, The Hairless Woman, in 22 hours while the world watched on streaming internet. Buy Tickets
