KidsJam is workshop which gives Berklee Music Education students, led by Professors Libby Allison and Charlene Ryan, an opportunity to practice their skills in a fun and energetic, performance-style setting. Frequent travels to Brazil and the Spanish Caribbean keep Latin jazz pianist Rebecca Cline in touch with the root of her inspiration: groove. Cline displays a mastery of harmonic devices, and her improvisations radiate the rhythmic power of world music and the lyrical grace of jazz. Joining her is Will Slater on acoustic bass and Karina Colison on drums.

Come and join us for a musical journey through song. we'll give you a new twist on some old standards as well as presenting some brand-new compositions. This show will feature some of the most up-and-coming Berklee students, alumni, staff, and faculty, all coming together to create a beautiful musical portrait. Christian Scott is a young Berklee alumnus and Grammy-nominated jazz trumpeter, composer, and producer who is having a major impact on the jazz scene. He released his fifth album, Yesterday You Said Tomorrow, on February 1, 2010. [details]

Pianist Shin Iikura presents this recital.

Music therapy majors will present contemporary songs that they compose and perform with and for clients in clinical settings. This annual event brings music therapy students together to celebrate music as a healing modality.

Jim Benoit, percussionist and vibraphonist, will give a one-hour recital featuring a wide variety of music from solo classical and contemporary pieces to a septet performance by the Waitiki 7.

Ryan Cabrera burst into the music scene in 2004 with his hits "On the Way Down" and "True." Since then he has toured extensively and put out several other albums, most recently The Moon Under Water. Freezepop has always been something of an oxymoron: embraced by both hipsters and nerds, serious about irony, and retro-futuristic. A synth band in a guitar video game, singing pop songs about rock. And it all somehow makes sense when you listen to the music. [details]

Jackie Barnes's Journey in African Grooves will take you on a rhythmic experience through the continent that has given him so much inspiration throughout his studies at Berklee. The show will combine influences from Morocco, Sénégal, Mali, Ghana, Cameroon, and South Africa, showcasing such artists as Mokhtar Samba, Oumou Sangare, Thandiswa, and Miriam Makeba, and will feature an array of talented instrumentalists and vocalists. This unforgettable show will leave you as inspired as Barnes has been by these wonderful songs. Look out for some special guests!

In a dazzling display of Indian percussion, tabla superstar Zakir Hussain is joined by the finest percussionists from India's classical and folk traditions, including Sabir Khan, (sarangi, lute) Ganesh and Kumaresh (violins), Taufiq Qureshi (percussion), Navin Sharma (dholak, two-headed folk drum), Sridar Parthasarathy (mridangam, barrel drum), and the breathtaking Bengali Drummers.

As with bossa nova, flamenco now has a rich vocabulary to play any kind of repertoire without losing its distinctive sound. Artist/producer Javier Limón, a five-time Latin Grammy–winner, presents a clinic on flamenco interpretation that focuses on composition. Students will gain tools to enhance their own music, chords, rhythms, and melodic expression. [details]

Mario Evon (Mario Guthrie), the "Prince of Reggae-Soul" will perform not only his original material but a series of covers in an acoustic set, with a host of his friends and some of Berklee's most talented musicians. The instrumentation will include piano, guitar, violin, and percussion.

Lihi Haruvi presents her original music together with talented friends in this enchanting recital.

The music in this recital is the result of four years of exceptional education and unpredictable debauchery. Having grown up moving back and forth between Finnish Lapland, the Middle East, and East Africa, and currently living in Boston, MA, Jussi has spent his life soaking up the sounds, scents, and shades of Nordic, Middle Eastern, African, and now American culture, all reflected in his music.
