Moonface / Saltland
Since January 2010, Spencer Krug has used Moonface as a venue for home-recorded instrumental and conceptual experimentation, expanding upon ideas he developed collaboratively with Wolf Parade and Sunset Rubdown. Releases under the Moonface moniker have come quickly. After moving from Montreal to Helsinki, Krug teamed up with the Finnish band Siinai to create a rock record driven by the dark despair of a breakup, Heartbreaking Bravery. In Helsinki, Krug set off on yet another creative departure, driven by a rediscovery of love and a reconsideration of the Moonface persona he had created for himself. The fourth Moonface release is an album of emotionally charged music for piano and voice, Julia with Blue Jeans On, that is unlike anything Krug has produced to date.
Saltland is the project of Canadian cellist Rebecca Foon, who is best known as a co-founder of contemporary chamber group Esmerine.
