Trombonist Stephanie Baird will be presenting her senior recital with friends (Kata Kozma, Aine Fujioka, Michael Sachs, etc.) and her band Zili Misik. The second half will feature Baird with Zili Misik, a seven-person all-female band that plays energetic roots music of the African diaspora.

This special concert presented by the Professional Writing Division will feature extended music composed and orchestrated by Steven Chelliah for a 21-piece jazz orchestra (with a driving jazz-rock rhythm section) and 15-piece choir, employing the Ultra Lydian concept.

The Berklee Historical Vocal Jazz Ensemble recreates the great jazz vocal group music of the 20th century. Music from the 1930s (Boswell Sisters, Mills Brothers) to the 1990s (Take 6, New York Voices) is sung in its authentic style. Associate professor David Scott has been awarded a Berklee Faculty Fellowship and a Berklee Recording Grant to transcribe, arrange, record, and perform this music, some of which has been published by Hal Leonard Publishing.
