Listen to the music of more than 150 exceptional faculty and student performers and mingle with special guests at Berklee's biggest party. Held annually for the past 14 years, the evening features live and silent auctions, including unique only-through-Berklee celebrity experiences and vacation packages, musical equipment, tickets to sporting and music events, and much more. Under the direction of pianist Ruby Biloskirka-Conley, the Music Factor, a large ensemble featuring Berklee's top instrumentalists, will perform original student jazz compositions.

The Tim Miller Trio will perform original compositions in a contemporary jazz style under the direction of faculty guitarist Tim Miller.

The Norm Zocher Trio will perform Norm's guitar-oriented jazz and fusion compositions.

Originally from Perugia, Italy, Eleonora Bianchini is a young singer whose voice creates a warm and charming atmosphere. She is inspired by many Brazilian and Latin American artists, including Rosa Passos, Caetano Veloso, Mayte Martin, and Eva Ayllón. Bianchini has collaborated with artists and Berklee faculty members such as Oscar Stagnaro, Leo Blanco, and Dan Moretti, and has recorded with Danilo Perez's big band project. She is currently the lead vocalist of Peru Mestizo Project with bandleader Oscar Stagnaro, and recently recorded a project that features her own compositions in different South American styles, with lyrics in English, Spanish, Portuguese, and Italian.

Singer/songwriter Carolyn Wilkins will present a concert to celebrate the release of her new book, Tips for Singers. Published by Berklee Press, Carolyn's new book is the perfect complement to books about singing technique. Designed to assist singers in any style of music, Tips for Singers offers advice on developing stage presence, choosing songs, understanding musical notation, finding the best key for your voice, choosing microphones and PA systems, overcoming stage fright, doing your best at auditions, and many other topics. Assisted by an all-star cast of Berklee faculty, Carolyn will perform an eclectic mix of original compositions, jazz standards, and African American spirituals. In addition, Carolyn will demonstrate some of the techniques described in Tips for Singers and answer questions from the audience.

Funk/jazz compositions in the style of Medeski, Martin & Wood and Galactic as well as a few vocal numbers in the soul/funk style will be performed by faculty bassist Tom Appleman and his band.

The Fab Faux celebrates its 10th anniversary with PSYCHEDELIA!—a performance of the Beatles' Psychedelic Years. The band has put on this show only once before, at New York's historic Radio City Music Hall. Critics have described the Fab Faux as nothing less than "brilliant" (Associated Press), tackling the Beatles' "most complex studio work without breaking a sweat" (New York Times), and re-creating albums "few would dare play live" (New York Post). Tickets go on sale August 8, 2008 at 10:00 a.m.

Drummer Jungyong Ryu presents a set of jazz for his senior recital.

Violinist Yoojin Park plays standard tunes as well as her original music and a classical piece for her senior recital.

Original compositions by Composition Department faculty will be performed in a variety of settings. Jonathan Holland coordinates the night.

The John Baboian Quartet features Baboian on guitar, Daniel Ian Smith on woodwinds, Bruce Gertz on bass, and Larry Finn on drum set. The quartet plays mainstream and contemporary jazz and Latin music, mainly composed by Baboian but with a few choice standards. The members have performed around the world with a variety of great musicians.

The jam band experience Mondo Gecko will perform originals, covers, and improvised music, led by guitarist Luke Stratton.

Faculty composer and pianist Larry Thomas Bell performs the world premiere of his "15 Two-Part Inventions," alternating with the famous two-part Inventions of J.S. Bach.

A pulsing rocker fueled by a love for r&b, Wells’s songs blend organic acoustic guitar, choir vocals, and chiming organ into a complete array of unique sounds. Drummer Tsuyoshi Yamamoto presents a set of jazz, both originals and arrangements.

A small-big-band will play a jazz suite under the direction of alto saxophonist Jo Miura, who will be conducting.

Pete Harper and Jason Blynn are known to themselves, and in turn by others, affectionately but usually appropriately as "Pete and J." Pete and J tour nationally and occasionally in the U.K. Most of the time, Pete and J are a band consisting of four people (a bassist and drummer in addition to the Pete and the J). [details]

Lura is a captivating performer steeped in traditional Cape Verdean styles but also influenced by a vast range of international pop sounds. With a sultry, honeyed voice, Lura and her tight six-piece band draw on many Cape Verdean rhythms—mazurka, coladeira, batuku, funana, and morna—to create an infectious, contemporary sound. [details]

Faculty trumpeter and vocalist Christine Fawson presents jazzy, funky original compositions performed by a slammin' horn section, grooving rhythm section, and hot vocals.

Visiting artist/pianist Fred Hersch will perform original compositions and jazz standards.

Pianist/vocalist Norman Seck performs tunes from the great American songbook.

Berklee female musicians from all over the world perform world ethnic music, led by vocalist Ayumi Ueda.

Guitarist/composer Javier Rosario would like to invite you all to his first recital. His quartet will be performing original compositions along with other influences.

Faculty vocalist Lisa Thorson will lead a jazz ensemble in an evening of compositions by Guinga, Rollins, Ellington, and Bill Evans as well as original songs and arrangements.

Faculty guitarist Scott Tarulli performs original instrumental music with his quartet including Mike Casano on drums and Dennis Hughes on keyboards.

Guitar faculty member Thaddeus Hogarth leads his group in a performance of original funk and rhythm and blues material from his upcoming DVD Live at Bose II. The ensemble includes David Sparr on keyboards, David Buda on bass (faculty), and Joey Scrima (summer faculty) on drums, with Hogarth on vocals, guitar, and chromatic harmonica.

Pianist/keyboardist Naoya Rick Sakurai will be performing great music in the styles of funk, r&b, and hip-hop.

Composer and arranger Sandro Morales will be presenting arrangements and original compositions in traditional Venezuelan styles with a band of outstanding Berklee musicians and a string orchestra.

The Esterhazy Quartet will be in residence at Berklee October 20 through October 24. During this time, they will present a series of concerts and workshops. This event will be a reading and recording session of the music of student composers.

Flutist Akiko Ito presents her compositions and arrangements performing a variety of styles of Brazilian music incluing the choro, samba, bossa nova, baião, and afoxé styles. Special guest Performance Division dean Matt Marvuglio will play flute and a demonstration of the dance samba de gafieira will be offered.

Andrei Matorin presents a set of brand-new compositions for small big band and strings. His music brings together his love for the melodies of his native Brazil, the driving rhythms of jazz, and the romantic passion of classical music.

Scottish drummer Patrick Kunka presents a recital of original music with a wide range of influences.

FunkHouse kicks butt, but they also caress cheek. Their music is like being thrown out of a bar by a 350-pound bouncer and then waking to realize it was only a dream and your mother is lovingly waking you with a kiss. No, no, no...it's like having Mike Tyson, dressed in his finest evening gown, whispering sweet nothings in your ear, and then biting it off. They're the jazz equivalent of the iTunes visualizer. Or to put it another way: FunkHouse is an energetic blend of modern jazz, funk, blues, 20th-century classical, Indian classical, and European and American folk music, which create a funky, groove-oriented, fresh, and original sound. Commissioned by Berklee College of Music, Electic Symphony is an orchestra of 32 musicians and is a synthesis of styles and instruments congruent with the culture profile of the institution. Composed by faculty member Vuk Kulenovic, this piece will be performed by Berklee faculty and conducted by Tibor Pusztai.

Vocalist Hiromi Suda presents a set of jazz and Brazilian music.

The 10th annual Octoboefest features the oboists of Berklee in solo and chamber settings. A mix of classical, contemporary, and jazz styles using the elusive double reeds guarantees an interesting and innovative musical experience for all.

Pianist Cho and her band play her original songs inspired by South American traditional music and a great composer: Leo Blanco.

All the way from Argentina, vocalist Silvina Moreno presents her main influences and original songs in a one-hour show.

Alto saxophonist Ryder Cambrone's senior recital will be a mix of jazz and fusion, including at least one original composition.

Jazz Composition Department faculty perform jazz in settings from small to large ensemble. Featured composers include Ken Pullig, Greg Hopkins, Phil Wilson, Bruce Thomas, and Marc Rossi. Special guest performer vocalist Rebecca Shrimpton.
