Topics covered include melodic characteristics, notation, articulation, phrasing, styles, interpretation of syncopated rhythms, rhythmic variations, and improvisation. We will look at several styles including choro, maxixe, samba, partido alto, samba-funk, bossa nova, baião, ijexá, xote, and frevo styles. Live and recorded examples will be played.
