Chilean saxophonist Melissa Aldana graduated from Berklee in 2009 and recorded her first two albums, Free Fall and Second Cycle, for Greg Osby's Inner Circle Music label. In September, she won first place in the Thelonious Monk International Jazz Saxophone Competition.
She currently lives in Manhattan and has become part of the city's jazz scene, performing with some of the greatest contemporary jazz artists—Benny Golson, Greg Osby, George Garzone, Francisco Mela, and Antonio Sanchez—and playing in some of the jazz's best-known venues, including Blue Note, Iridium, Jazz Gallery, and Lincoln Center.
Aldana will talk about her time at Berklee and how she started her career in New York City. She will also be giving a master class with a student band lead by Edmar Colon.
