Mad Satta is at the forefront of a new movement in soul and R&B music. This eclectic, eight-piece band merges elements of old-school soul with hip-hop, rock, and jazz to create an intriguing paragon, featuring Joanna Teters on vocals.
Founded by vocalist Joanna Teters and bassist Ben Carr in 2010, Mad Satta has assembled some of the most promising young musicians from New England to produce a powerful, unforgettable performance. Teters confidently fronts the band with grace and depth of soul beyond her years, drawing on her own musical roots in funk, reggae, and jazz. She is joined by bass player and principle composer for the group, Ben Carr, keyboardist Kevin Theodore (Ever Forthright, Soul Understated), standout Connecticut guitarist Ted Morcaldi and multi-instrumentalist and drummer Zane West. In June 2012, alto saxophonist Collin Wade joined the group, as did Eric Zeiser (trumpet) and Jason Fitch (tenor sax). Having already appeared at venues such as The Bitter End, 92YTribeca, The Bowery Electric, DROM, Café 939, and The Falcon, they have caught the eye of many.
"Mad Satta is truly fun-to-listen-to music for the right reasons. Led by the terrific and powerful voice of Joanna Teters, this is a group that will be an important component of the movement to keep this music moving forward..." said Taylor Eigsti, a two-time Grammy nominee.
