This concert has been canceled due to weather. Lauren Desberg is a 22-year-old jazz vocalist. Born and raised in Los Angeles, she grew up surrounded by music. Her mother (a singer) and her father (a guitarist) had her take piano, cello, and voice lessons throughout her youth. Desberg attended Los Angeles County High School for the Arts (LACHSA), where she began singing jazz. There she was the student director of the Vocal Jazz Ensemble and sang with the big band and several combos.
While attending LACHSA, Desberg was selected to participate in several programs, including the Gibson/Baldwin Grammy Jazz Ensemble and the Brubeck Summer Jazz Colony, the Monterey Jazz Festival, and the Playboy Jazz Festival. She has performed at some of the most prestigious jazz venues in Los Angeles, including Catalina Bar and Grill, The Jazz Bakery, and Vitello’s.
Desberg attended Berklee College of Music on scholarship and graduated this past summer. While at Berklee, she won the ASCAP Foundation’s Leiber and Stoller Music Award, sang with the Beantown Swing Orchestra, and participated in numerous Berklee events and ensembles.
Desberg recently released her first EP, Sideways, produced by Gretchen Parlato. She was fortunate to have incredible players such as Dayna Stephens, Taylor Eigsti, Josh Crumbly, Chris Smith, and Corey Fonville accompanying her.
