Berklee Summer in the City3 Sudacas
3 Sudacas is a trio composed of Esther Rojas from Colombia on bass, Marianella Rojas from Venezuela on voice and percussion, and Eduardo Mercuri from Brazil on guitar. The trio fuses traditional music from their native countries with jazz harmony and pop elements, creating a sound that is subtle and fresh.
The members met at Berklee College of Music two years ago and have been playing together ever since. They were part of the band that played with Alejandro Sanz, the winner of three Grammy Awards and 16 Latin Grammys, at the Latin Grammy Awards in Las Vegas in November 2013. Mercuri is a guitarist, mandolinist, composer, and arranger who graduated in 2014 with a major in performance. Esther Rojas, the second sudaca, is currently majoring in contemporary writing and production. The last sudaca, Nella Rojas, who lends a jazzy and pop sound to the group with her vocals, is majoring in both vocal performance and contemporary writing and production.
3 sudacas is currently working on its first album, which is expected to be released in 2015.
