Emotional, evocative, warm, and natural, rooted in Americana with pop and country stylings lightly layered on top: This describes Kathryn Hallberg's music. Her second EP, Nocturnal, with musical contributions from Lloyd Maines (Dixie Chicks, Robert Earl Keen) and mixed by Niko Bolas (Neil Young, James Taylor) at the Surf Shack in Los Angeles, was selected as one of the best local albums of 2012 by both the Houston Chronicle and the Houston Press. She also garnered a Houston Press nomination for Best Pop Artist in 2011, selection as a 2012 Ballad Tree Regional Finalist in the Kerrville New Folk Competition, Winner of the Texas Independent Music Expo, two-time finalist at the Songwriters Serenade, and a finalist in the International Songwriting Competition.
Kathryn is working toward a degree in Professional Music with a Songwriting concentration at Berklee College of Music.
