Joel Martin presents a session titled The New Music Business Model vs. the Old Model and the Economics of Licensing. Martin has been working in the Detroit music scene since 1975, as a producer, manager, studio owner, and philanthropist. Martin was first to sign Eminem with FBT Productions, a company he formed with Mark and Jeff Bass. Martin's studio, 54 Sound, has produced accomplished artists such as George Clinton, 50 Cent, and the Gorillaz. Martin was recently involved in a key lawsuit on behalf of Eminem in a case vs. Universal that could change the future of digital rights and compensation.
