Mary Lambert is good at two things: crying and singing. As a performer, Lambert resembles the subdued softness of artists like Feist and Bon Iver. She has carved out a niche for herself thanks to her winding and profound lyrics and her breathy, haunting melodies. Performing live alongside Macklemore and Ryan Lewis on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, VH1 and The Colbert Report, the trio garnered more than 80 million views on YouTube and platinum status for the song “Same Love.” Lambert is also Seattle’s 2011 Grand Poetry Slam champion and the 2012 Northwest Regional Slam winner. Earlier this year, her EP, Letters Don’t Talk, helped establish her as one of the most talked-about unsigned artists. Watch Lambert perform “Same Love” with Macklemore and Lewis here:

Poet, educator, and activist Caroline Harvey, an assistant professor of liberal arts at Berklee, performs and teaches internationally. Harvey was a member and coach of multiple award-winning poetry slam teams, was featured on season five of HBO’s Def Poetry, and has shared stages with Melissa Ferrick, Livingston Taylor, Alicia Keys, and Yasiin Bey (Mos Def), among others. Her poetry is equal parts folk and punk, sacred and irreverent, and it tracks her belief that every moment is an extraordinary opportunity for healing, beauty, and illumination.
