Percussionist Harvey Mason is a co-leader of the band Fourplay and has produced and recorded on numerous hit jazz, funk, fusion and pop recordings, including the original Herbie Hancock Headhunters recording. Mason co-composed the hit song “Chameleon” from that seminal album.
Mason is one of the most in-demand session drummers of all time and he has been hired by the likes of James Brown, Barbara Streisand, Frank Sinatra, John Legend, and the London Symphony Orchestra. He has served as the first call drummer for the Academy Awards 25 times and has played drums and composed for numerous major motion pictures. Mason has also written and composed songs that have been recorded by Mary J. Blige, Notorious B.I.G., and T.I., among others.
