Oregon-born pianist and composer Grant Richards began playing piano and composing at age 8, and by the time he entered college, he had won four Student Music Awards from Downbeat Magazine and recorded his first album as a leader. In 2009, Grant enrolled in Berklee College of Music, where he received the Jimmy Lyons Scholarship, a distinction awarded each year to one music student for outstanding talent. In his short career, Grant has performed with many renowned artists including Esperanza Spalding, Eddie Gómez, and Terri Lyne Carrington. Since graduating, Grant has remained active as a performer and teacher both in the Boston music scene and internationally. He is preparing to record an album to be released by the end of the year.
