Rabbit Rabbit

A duo of misfit classical musicians with an appetite for world music that has cut its teeth in rock bands, world-folk ensembles, symphony orchestras and the occasional free improv outlet, Goli is madly in love with tango and Bartok. It wrestles with universal subjects while playing the cello and marimba.

Rabbit Rabbit is the song-spinning duo of Carla Kihlstedt and Matthias Bossi. Collectively, this husband and wife team are founding members of the iconic bands Sleepytime Gorilla Museum, Tin Hat, 2 Foot Yard, Causing a Tiger, The Book of Knots, and Fred Frith’s Cosa Brava, and have played with Tom Waits, Mike Patton, Skeleton Key, Madeleine Peyroux, Tracy Chapman, John Vanderslice, St. Vincent, Carla Bozulich, Pretty Lights and The Tiger Lillies. Between them they have written music for the International Contemporary Ensemble, the Bang on a Can All-Stars, the ROVA Saxophone Quartet, InkBoat, the Joe Goode Performance Group, and Team Meat. But Rabbit Rabbit dares to peel back these influences, revealing an intimate and dramatic music all its own. Drawing on a love of art song, folk song, industrial music, improvised music and heart-wrenching balladry, and rendered on a motley assortment of acoustic instruments, its songs are raw and beautiful, sparse and rich, lighthearted and full of pathos.

Rachel and Bo Barringer are The Wrong Shapes, a darkly intriguing male/female cello/guitar/vocal duo combining acoustic and electronic sounds with minimal, compelling songwriting. Bo also plays in Future Carnivores and has, in the past, fronted MEandJOANCOLLINS and The Collisions. Rachel also plays cello in The Grownup Noise and Juventas New Music Ensemble.
