Gabrielle Walter-Clay was born and raised in San Francisco, California. Her formal training in music began at age seven with the San Francisco Girls Chorus and continues at Berklee. An old soul who draws inspirations from the likes of Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, Ella Fitzgerald, and Marvin Gaye, Walter-Clay’s music has developed to incorporate neo-soul and jazz styles as well as those of new greats like Erykah Badu and Lauryn Hill. In balancing the old and the new, she creates a fresh vibe and works hard to deliver lyrics that inspire others, ignite passion and/or nostalgia, and take the listener to another place. Stay tuned as this up-and-coming young artist continues to grow and develop, because no matter the genre or style, the soul and truth in Walter-Clay’s voice is unmistakable.
