Julien Kasper Band / Houses of the Holy: A Led Zeppelin Tribute
Berklee Performance Center
136 Massachusetts Avenue
Boston, MA, 02115
Faculty guitarist Julien Kasper and his group, featuring Zac Casher on drums and Jesse Williams on bass, perform their unique brand of spacious, groove-heavy psychedelic jazz rock. Guitar Player has described Kasper's playing as having "exquisite tones, masterful execution, and innate soulfulness."
In the second half of the show, Joe Musella, assistant professor in the Guitar Department and creator of the Jimmy Page Lab, leads a tribute to Led Zeppelin with faculty members Tom Appleman on bass, Matt Jenson on keys, and Larry Finn on drums, with special guests Jennifer Truesdale on vocals and Peter Farese on guitars/vocals. Zeppelin's Houses of the Holy will be performed in its entirety.
Houses of the Holy is the fifth studio album by the English rock band Led Zeppelin, released by Atlantic Records on March 28, 1973. The album title is a dedication by the band to fans who appeared at venues they dubbed "houses of the holy." It was the second Led Zeppelin album to not officially be titled after the band. It was also the first of the band's albums to be composed of completely original material. It represents a musical turning point for Led Zeppelin, as they began to use more layering and production techniques in recording their songs.
