Faculty bassist Bruno Raberg leads an exciting, eclectic group that will be performing originals by Raberg and traditional Carnatic/South Indian compositions set to exciting world grooves.
Internationally renowned bassist/composer Raberg's latest project is Garuda, a six-piece Indian/jazz/world music blend featuring the main drum of South India, called the mridangam. The repertoire consists of Raberg's original compositions that draw from these traditions. He says, "The common thread throughout all my stylistic explorations is a heavy focus on improvisation. It is at the heart of musical development, and it is a focal point of Garuda as well."
