Haley Bonar / Holcombe Waller / Daniel Martin Moore
Haley Bonar is a singer-songwriter from Minneapolis whose new album, Golder, was released in April. The record was titled after her dreams about the album cover being shiny gold; the title also represents her desire to improve herself as an artist with each song she writes. Her first tour was with the band Low.
Holcombe Waller is a folk songwriter with an impressive vocal range and gentle fingerpicked guitar. His latest album, Into the Dark Unknown, is both melancholy and ecstatic, reflecting upon six years of traveling the Pacific Northwest. His music has been compared to the likes of Sufjan Stevens and Fleet Foxes. The Oregonian testifies, “Gorgeous—melancholy but fierce and resolved. It feels like the best feelings in life, the ones that make us know that we’re alive for better or worse.”
Singer-songwriter Daniel Martin Moore recently released the album In the Cool of the Day. This is a spiritual album of time-tested family gospel favorites remembered from growing up, with a few added new tunes of Moore’s. He set out to keep things simple, to let the beauty inherent in the songs shine through. He has presented the songs as he remembered them, as a reflection of, and meditation on, growing up in this musical tradition.
