Jesse Scheinin Band

Saxophonist Jesse Scheinin is looking for something new. Music that sounds and feels like 2010, but that has the energy and spontaneity of '60s jazz—Sigur Ros meets Coltrane—is the goal. His songs are about dreams, adventures, and growing up. Inspired by the magical realism of authors Gabriel García Márquez, Haruki Murakami, and Jorge Luis Borges, they try to bring listeners into a state of fantasy. Having been mentored by Joshua Redman, Danilo Perez, and Billy Harper, Scheinin is completing his studies at Berklee.

At 21, he has performed with many top artists, including Jack DeJohnette, Matt Wilson, and Louie Bellson, and has already led his band at venues like the San Francisco Jazz Festival, Yoshi's Jazz Club, Chris's Jazz Café, the San Jose Jazz Festival, Club Passim, and the Kuumbwa Jazz Center. A Jesse Scheinin Band show is an event: big energy, big melodies, and total spontaneity. It's serene and raw and filled with theatricality; it's electric.
