Sophie Maras, with a Belgian father who was born in the Congo and a half-English/half-American mother, was born in Madrid in 1980. Although she has spent most of her life in Spain, she also has lived in France, Belgium, England, and Italy.

Coming from strong soul and R&B roots, Maras tastes different music styles of the world, resulting in an influence of different styles in her music, from bossa nova, to funk, to Latin jazz, to country, adding to it a distinctive Mediterranean and modern character to it. A fruit of our time, Maras has a very natural and happy feel to her, accesible and atractive at first sight but full of details for those who care for it, and with messages that go straight to your heart.

A cultural mixture, resulting from her roots, is one of her main characteristics. For this reason, some have called her music world pop, although it could well be called world soul, as her soul is reflected in all she composes and writes.
