Merrily James

Growing up in Seattle, Merrily James learned to sing by touring with the Total Experience Gospel Choir. At age 17 she was picked up by Showtime at the Apollo and had the audience singing along with her to Aretha Franklin on the national television series hosted by Sinbad. James has shared the stage with Bobby McFerrin, Phillip Bailey (Earth, Wind & Fire), Don Was, and Rocco Prestia (Tower of Power). She was selected as the sole performer for Google's grand opening celebration (Cambridge) in 2008 and has been featured with the New York Songwriters Circle. Last month she was the singer/songwriter winner of the Artist on the Verge Ourstage competition, and the Indie Artist Suggestion on Women of Substance Radio.

This concert is presented by Harvard Longwood Campus and takes place at Harvard Medical School.
