The 2010 James G. Zafris Distinguished Lecture for Music Business/Management will be given by Gerry Barad, chief operating officer, Live Nation Global Touring. The title for this year's lecture is Concerts/Touring: Past, Present, and Future.
Barad will give insights gathered from his long career in the live music industry, where he has been an integral part of the acquisition, production, merchandising, budgeting, sponsorship affiliation, and execution of concert tours of some of the biggest names in live touring, including U2; Madonna; the Rolling Stones; the Police; Sting; David Bowie; Barbra Streisand; Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young; Neil Young; Peter Gabriel; Pink Floyd; the Who; Rush; Shakira; Joni Mitchell; Paul McCartney; Bette Midler; and the Area Festival.
Following his talk, Barad will be interviewed by professor Jeff Dorenfeld, for an in-depth discussion of the business of touring, including new uses of technology and industry consolidation.
