The McLovins

The McLovins are an improvisational rock trio consisting of Jake (Drumlovin), Jason (Basslovin) and Jeffrey (Axlovin). Their youthful exuberance and varied musical backgrounds have allowed them to emerge as a fresh voice in the jam band scene. Performing live, they are able to draw from a diverse palette of influences, jazz and funk to rock and soul.

With a solid musical foundation, the McLovins are able to expand and improvise almost effortlessly, allowing for a very distinctive sound and feel to their own compositions, as well as fresh takes on classics. Jake's slick execution and speed changes on drums drive the music, leaving Jason with ample room to expand and explore on bass. This solid rhythm duo is complimented by Jeffrey's relentless lead guitar cascading and building the intensity, casting a spell on listeners.

The chemistry between these 15- and 16-year-olds is electrifying. After playing together only a few months, they had compiled a repertoire of covers and began playing live. Through continued postings on YouTube and their cover of Phish's epic "You Enjoy Myself," they expanded their fan base through the Phantasy Tour. While appearing at New York's Sullivan Hall, they garnered the attention of Rolling Stone magazine, which asked them in for an interview and to record for the Smoking Section spot on the magazine's website. More regional appearances followed at Hartford venues and appearances as the house band on WFSB television's Better Connecticut and live broadcasts on WPKN and WBCR. The band performed on the Green Vibes Stage to a tent full of screaming fans at this year's Gathering of the Vibes festival in Bridgeport, CT. The band recently returned to perform for old and new fans at Revolution Hall in Troy, NY.
