Funk Ferrous Wheel / Chloe Bean and the Spills

Ferrous Wheel: The neo-funk sounds of Ferrous Wheel were formed out of a need for serious groove. Made up of Berklee alumni and current students Ferrous Wheel is quickly emerging as one of Boston's top funk bands. In the spirit of the classic carnival ride, the members of Ferrous Wheel are highlighted one by one throughout the band's performance, therefore eliminating the need for a "star child." In the summer of 2008, Arien Sangma, Evan Marien, and Dan Puccio sought to create a band that could give music fans a change from the regular genres and scenes in the Boston area. Soon after, drummer Ben Marshall, guitarist Stephen Gaspar, and vocalist Jenna Coe extended their talents into the group. Ferrous Wheel exploded into the Boston music scene, playing for a sold-out crowd at Berklee's Cafe 939 and are now returning with new members including: Amanda Rose on tenor sax, Kory Stanbury on alto sax, Reiko Matsuzaki on trumpet, Blake Branch on bass, and Music Box on vocals. Bursting with original songs as well as seamless tributes, Ferrous Wheel is dedicated to providing listeners a unique experience, pouring heart and soul into their dynamic spin on funk.
Chloe Bean and the Spills: With recent performances at the Battle of the Bands at Lily Pad, and an upcoming show at the Berklee caf, this original pop rock band is made up of six members—Chloe (writer) on vocals and rhythm guitar, Eileen on backing vocals, Dave Huddleston on lead guitar, Tom Kain on keys, Joe Birmingham on bass, and Scott Quintana on drums. The group formed only this summer, starting off as a jam and evolved to what is now as Chloe Bean and the Spills. Each of the members has a unique musical background, some jazz and some soul, blues, and rock. Coming together in the band, this makes each song even more defined and creates some cool arrangements.
