Pete Harper and Jason Blynn are known to themselves, and in turn by others, affectionately but usually appropriately as "Pete and J." Pete and J tour nationally and occasionally in the U.K. Most of the time, Pete and J are a band consisting of four people (a bassist and drummer in addition to the Pete and the J).

Based in New York, where they flourish in the sweet exhaust and excitement of city life, they tour much of the year, so occasionally see both grass and trees. A few albums are out there, including Without a Band and Dressed for Conversation. A new album is forthcoming.

Jonah Smith and his band have been touring and recording together for over five years. For being cramped into a tiny van together for so long, they get along pretty well. In 2005, Jonah signed a record deal with Relix Records (as in the magazine) and entered the studio with producer Lee Townsend. The album, which took over a year to complete, is considered to be a personal statement by Jonah. No studio trickery, just a band playing music in a really nice room captured for your enjoyment. Tthe record does have some special guests including the Mason Brothers on horns, the legendary Garth Hudson on accordion, Bill Frisell on guitar, and Carrie Rodriguez on vocals and fiddle.
