Image 1 of 1Contemporary R&B, funk, jazz, fusion, and pop drummer John Blackwell Jr. helps kick off Berklee's Five-Week Summer Performance Program with a concert featuring program teachers Tyrone Chase, Jetro Da Silva and Chris Loftlin. Over the years, Blackwell has played with many successful pop, funk, hip-hop, jazz, and fusion stars, including Prince, Justin Timberlake, Cameo, and Patti LaBelle. According to vater.com and drummerworld.com, Blackwell is a "spectacle for the eyes and ears." His "slamming tight grooves, popping snare, and furiously flamboyant drumstick twirling and cross-arm strokes must be seen to be believed."
